To support the growth of eDMR technology, we have created an Alliance in order to allow manufacturers, companies interested in connected topics, especially the potential future customers and the current users of the eDMR, to think about future developments and applications, to share procedures and models of compatibility. The main idea is to offer to endusers of radio networks a direct path to develop dedicated functions under the eDMR open standard.
The eDMR technology is a European counterpoint to other technologies, as design, development and manufacturing are performed only in Europe.
Thanks to its high spectrum efficiency the eDMR can provide the equivalent of Tier III services within Tier II equipment. This is not only to have the best spectrum efficiency in the market but also to simplify network design. eDMR is not restricted by repeater numbers, cells or zones, switching equipment or node cells. The powerfull network design and the performance of eDMR repeaters allows a lighter infrastructure than other technologies without additionnal dedicated equipment for switching to repeat calls to other cells on the network. Providing 2 voice communication channels and 1 data communication channel at the same time within a 12.5KHz bandwidth can solve major customer’s needs. In the case of additional needs, for example in high number of users in urban areas, several eDMR repeaters can be combined on the same high site.
For those reasons, and many others detailled on the eDMR white paper, the Alliance has been created to go forward into the future, even further than the current extraordinary capability of the eDMR technology. Moreover, the eDMR is an innovative technology that totally focuses on end-users of VHF radio networks.
