The eDMR is a digital TDMA radio system, offering terminals compatibles with existing analog networks using specific signalization as CTCSS, 5 tons, etc., it allows a smooth migration from analog to full digital.
The eDMR can be installed in all radio networks working on VHF bands (30-50 MHz, 68-88 MHz and 146-174 MHz), within an unique single site with one or several BS or multisite digital network authorizing all types of interconnection. The eDMR has been thought to be easily deployed thanks to its native IP connectivity.
The eDMR got three objectives on mind:
Allow present and future customers to keep using their current operating frequencies and the existing radio sites with as a result, substantial cost savings.
Thanks to the eDMR digital technology with high spectral efficiency, to handle several communications at the same time over one 12,5 KHz channel spacing and provide all the benefits associated with digital technology in terms of audio quality, data transmission and services in general.
Offer to customers the possibility of a smooth, time-phased migration towards a full digital technology, while ensuring total compatibility between their current analogue equipment and eDMR digital equipment.
Benefits of eDMR technology:
Better spectral efficiency: 3 communications at the same time within a 12, 5 KHz channel.
Financial benefits: 1 base station allows 3 communications in the same channel spacing
Gradual migration from analogue to digital:
- Analogue/digital compatibility
- Migration in stages from an analogue system to a digital system
- Reduced acquisition costs
The eDMR offers Short data transmission along with communications, as an example:
- GPS
- SMS
- Signalling
- Network registration
- Services dedicated to utility companies
- OTA functions
- Other services …
The eDMR is a full open standard developed by several manufacturers and receiving experience of end-users through a non-profit association called eDMR Alliance.
Our historical customers seek more and more to use a spectrum efficient technology in order to increase paths of communications.
In UHF, technologies are quite expensive and needs a very dense infrastructure to cover wide areas; VHF is most of the time a better alternative but until today with poor efficient digital technology available. Nevertheless the development in the market of the eDMR, provide to radio users a very cost effective and high performance solution. The eDMR solve many problems faced by users in terms of digital services related with huge investments.
That’s why today TPL Systèmes and SEE.SR companies had choose to manufacture this digital radio system in order to be proactive regarding with customer needs and offer the best digital radio technology on VHF bands.
Both companies manufactures a full range of eDMR products like repeaters, mobiles and handhelds, as well as a range of accessories dedicated to users mobility. All equipment’s are fully operable with existing eDMR products and networks.
